problem configuring sm56 speakerphone PCI internal modem
i have a sm56 speakerphone PCI internal modem.
it's working fine on windows XP.
i am unable to start internet on linux as i don't know how to configure it on red hat 9.0.
i have already downloaded an rpm file from motorola site. the rpm is supported by this kernel.
the man page of the sm56 rpm tells
" to check whether the rpm is installed successfully use minicom to send AT signals to it at port /dev/modem."
kindly tell me how to do this and whether this will start internet on linux. if not please tell me the remaining procedure.
Awaiting a reply..

Welcome to LQ gajaykrishnan. Can you describe in more detail the steps you are taking and the error messages that you are seeing when you try to log on to the Internet? I think that would be helpful in diagnosing the issue. -- J.W.
