Problem about ps2 mouse in suse9.0

originally I use usb logitech mouse on this OS, now I change to an PS2 mouse.
The question is how shall I fix the system to get the new mouse work. Because there is no action now.

I'm a beginer in linux. I have read some tutorial, but may be the version is not the same. I have try to fix it in my way but no result . So if someone can give me some advice it would be very helpful.

you may have to change your XFree86Config file to map to /dev/mouse and protocol PS/2

read the comments in the file, they are pretty good it's /etc/X11/XFree86Config unless you use X.org or xfce

Since you are using SuSE, just log in as root on level 3 and start up sax2. It will probe your devices and you will be able to select ps/2 mouse along with other features it might have.

If you can't get it to work satisfactorily, a good alternative solution i use is to burn a Knoppix CD and boot your computer on the CD. It is usually *excellent* at auto-detecting devices. Have a look at the XF86Config file it created for you. That might help you fix yours.

that is very nice to receive you 2 advises.
actually I am using a computer of my college
I don't know what sax2 really is
and I have just solve the trouble of root access through sudo. I have vi the XF86Config and try many different combinations of "PS/2 \ dev/mouse" but it doesn't work.
I think might be some problem of purview. because under the X11 there are 2 XF86Config (one romote one local).
I will try to sax2 tomorrow.
thanks a lot
