Printing Woes - HP Photosmart 2610
I've been struggling the past 2 days to try to get my poor printer working, and I'm at a loss as to what I should do. Let me begin by telling you the stuff I've got-
Printer: HP PhotoSmart 2610 (USB) Distro: Fedora Core 3 (kernel 2.6.11) Processor: AMD 64 3200+ When I first started the computer, neither PhotoSmart 2610 nor PhotoSmart 2600 options popped up. I downloaded the HP PhotoSmart 2600 PPD from linuxprinting.org (as the didn't have a specific 2610, but an article said teh 2600 PPD should work for it). I ran system-config-printer-gui, and Action->Import PPD->HP PhotoSmart2600.PPD. I had to restart my computer because of an update, so I restarted and up popped the dialog to select my printer. HP PhotoSmart 2600 was now listed, so I chose it. Unfortunately, I still can't print. When I run system-config-printer-gui and I edit Edit the que that's been created, I get an error message in the shell (UnboundLocalError ?), and have to CTRL-C to get out of the shell. When I Test->CUPS Test Page, it says that "sent the test page to the printer, does it look okay?" It didn't print anything, so I say 'no'. It pops up with an error log which says: Unable to open HAL device "hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_usb_device_3f0_4511_100_-1_MY51EG10B90400_1" Screenshot of the shell error is at http://www.inflectus.com/Screenshot.png What should I do? Thanks so much. |
