I've got a Lexmark Z22 on Mandrake 9.1, and I wanted to be able to print in black using only a color cartridge (since I've got a couple of color carts laying around and don't want to go buy a black one). I can do it in WinXP, but haven't figured out how to do it in Linux yet. PrinterDrake does not have an option for it. Mainly I would be printing from OpenOffice. Anyone know how?
In a program. For example, in OpenOffice select all the text and change the color of the text. Lets say blue or purple.
To mix all the colors change all colors except black to 255 or 256.
If you want to do the more technical way. You can read CUPS (assuming your printer is setup under CUPS) on how to make printer filters. Then make a printer filter and make it the default filter to be used for all programs.
