printers

Does anyone ever believe that Printer Manufacturers will ever enable their products to be as easily installed on Linux Distros as on Windows .

Oh yah, just not Lexmark. You could start a pretty good poll on this...

Hi and welcome to LQ. HP printers seem to work pretty well out of the box on Linux and BSD.

We have had a plethora of polls lately--perhaps a printer poll has already been done recently.....

I actually think the issues are more with the front-end** drivers. There is pretty good basic support for most of the printers I deal with.

**Part of the printing issue is the front-end driver put into the applications--this is not the responsibility of the printer vendor.

GIMP, for example, is very good
