printer won't work

Trying to get a canon mp530 printer/scanner/fax working. Mandrake automagically detected it and installed a driver but it doesn't work. Poking around revealed that mandrake installed the canon bjc600 driver.

Is this driver supposed to work with several models?

If so what could be wrong? If not is there a driver available for the mp530?

A reference to a printer howto would be nice.

Regards,
Sharky

cups has several "demo" drivers for various printers, and its cousin
company Easy Software Inc. has hundreds of drivers (for $$). Gimp-print
has a large number of canon and epson (and more) drivers that work with
CUPS (for free). Check out the CUPS website, they should have a list of
software distributors that offer drivers for use with CUPS.
