Printer Canon S450 with SuSE 9.1 doesn't work

Hello

I am trying to use Canon S450 with SuSE 9.1. YaST correctly auto-detects the printer, and sets it up for me.

Auto-detection finds:
Canon S450 on First Parallel Port (/dev/lp0)

But when I do lpq I get "printer is not ready" and it never prints anything.

When I go to YaST2 printer configuration and "test" the already installed printer ("ready"), it never prints, and sometimes gives the following error message:

"An error occurred while communicating with the CUPS server while saving
queue y2test.
cups(File)DoRequest error: client-error-bad-request"

I have tried the same printer on a different computer with the same OS installed from CD without any updates and it works straight away.

Thanks for any help.

I also have a Canon S450 with SuSE 9.1. I had the same problem once after I went through a bout of printer malfunctions which left garbage in the spool. I cleared the problem by removing all of the files in /var/spool/cups and /var/spool/cups/tmp. Be sure not to delete the /var/spool/cups/tmp directory.
