Has anyone ever got a printer to work under Linux?
I bought Suse 7.3, now I have 8.2, but, although it recognizes my Epson CX42UX, and the scanner, both on USB, I have never got either of them to work.

You just haven't tried harder. Many people I know say that lexamark printer are bad with linux, but my X73 printer and scanner works perfectly right. just just have to install the appropriate drivers and it should work. install cups foomatic and gimp-print then just go to http://localhost:631/ and click manage printers, then add printer and if you use a usb it should be /dev/usb/lp0 and if it is in the parallel port use /dev/lp0 and choose you printer model and then just print. if you want a more detailed guide just post here what you don't understand and I'll try to help you.
