Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Print Server Pin Control

Does anyone know how I would go about controlling the pins of a printer server? switch on/off etc

I found a few bits on doing it on windows but not linux.

I read that most print servers use port 9100 if that's of any use?

Your post is a bit confusing. Are you asking about parallel port programming?
I am not sure what you mean by "pins of a print server"

Sorry should have made it a bit clearer, I have a network print server which has a parallel port on it, what i'd like to do is control the state of the pins/connectors on that port.

So this is a hardware device vs a desktop computer? What is the make/model of the server. Without knowing anything about the hardware is is difficult to know if this is possible.

I would google and see if anyone has modified or if it actually runs linux. It might be easier in the long run to use an older computer with a parallel port then to try to modify dedicated hardware.
