I have a linux box running Redhat AS 3. i am running cups version cups-1.1.17-13.3.6. I have several printers added to this server. I am having a problem with 4 printers in particular. Each printer is attached to an axis 5400 print server (4 printers, 4 print servers). I have configured these printers on the linux box to print using lpd using the raw print que. for example:
device for civil_pr: lpd://civil/pr5
The problem is this:
i am printing ascii files to these printers. The print job will print entirely, but it keeps printing the print job over and over again until i physically power down the printer and print server, cancel the job, and restart the cups service on the linux box.
The advice that i have gotten from axis is to upgrad the firmware on the print servers, but i am not convinced that will work because these same printers are added to a sco unix box and they print just fine when jobs are sent from the unix box. My gut tells me that this is a linux issue.

Can anyone give me any insight on this? I would greatly appreciate it. Redhat's knowledge base is for the birds and i can't seem to find anything relevant.
