Question Precise Pangolin not recognizing Bamboo tablet CTL-470

Hello

After updating from 11.10 to 12.04 this happened.
Anybody got the same experience: the tablet is not recognized, only occasionally "now it is, now it is'n". If you have a solution, please tell me in detail as I am not very good at this.

Is it using MTP to try and connect? If so, you may be able to put it in USB Mass Storage mode. I'm not familiar with that tablet, but my Galaxy Tab 10.1 has the same issue, and is locked in MTP mode, which doesn't seem to like Precise at the moment.

I am not quite sure what you mean (as I said, I'm not very good at this), but when I run lsusb I get this:

Bus 002 Device 010: ID 0a5c:4503 Broadcom Corp. Mouse (Boot Interface Subclass)
Bus 002 Device 011: ID 0a5c:2146 Broadcom Corp.

As you see, it is recognized. The blue light on the device is on, but when I take it and try to use it the light goes off. After waiting a few seconds it comes on again (and stays on if I'm not moving the tablet). Then when trying to draw something in for instance GIMP it is really slow.

To anyone who reads this: do not give me this advice: "sudo apt-add-repository ppa:lekensteyn/wacom-tablet
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wacom-dkms"

Did not work for me, please give me something else...

Solved! Finally. I found out that the failure was mechanical, not electronic. The USB micro cable connection was loose and replacing it with a new cable did it! I'm happy again...
