Powered Speakers suddenly not working

I recently broke my old powered speaker set, a CA set with a powered sub and two desktop speakers with power and sound control. Well I went and got a Boston Acoustics 5 speaker set at a garage sale for $20. It required digital output. Well I could not get that to work so I got a Harmon Kardon 2 speaker desktop set. Again nothing. As far as I an tell digital output is not a requirement for the new speakers. If I plugin headphones, the sound is there. Anyone have a similar issue or know how to get digital output for a VIA On-board sound chip AC97 (module via82XX)? Thanks.

well I can't clearly understand what you mean but:

if you can hear the music when you plug in your earphones the output is definitely Analog.

If your previous two headspeakers worked this means they were analog and worked with the analog output.

The new headspeakers instead which require digital output can't work!

Anyway this does not seem a computer related topic.. you should probably check some other forum I guess.

If you read the last line (the one with the ?) it asks if you know how to get digital output on my sound card. Furthermore, how is it not computer related?
