Power Supply Problem
 

This isnt necessarily directly related to linux, but i like the people here and thought you guys may be able to help me out. Im on my sarge box right next to the broken computer.

The problem goes as this:
My water cooling pump fell and this led screen i have in front of my computer(which shows temp and the such) just kept beeping. I figured id shut it up. I turned off the computer and pulled the power plugs from the led. I then followed that with an attempt the turn the computer back on...and nothing worked. Decided id plug it back in...and now nothing works again. I messed with a few other chords now but dont specifically see anything that could be causing this problem.

Any ideas how i would be able to get my system running again...a method or such to figure out the problem? Should i maybe take apart all the power supply chords????

im assuming a few things... correct me if im wrong

1. You plugged the indicator thing from inside the computer (you had to open the case)
2. You opened the computer less than 10 minutes after shutdown
3. You had no static wristband


There is a possibility that the static on your hand could have fried or froze one of your chips.
If there is a blank screen, and light on the computer indicate that there is a problem, and no beeping noises are made, then this is a motherboard issue. If the computer does not turn on at all, meaning no fans, no lights, completely dead, then 2 things might me the issue:
1. A power cord is not plugged in, or is plugged in incorrectly.
2. Your power supply or your motherboard have failed.

Also, i would be able to help you better if i knew what components do you have inside your computer, and what kind of power supply you have.

Correct. but i necessarily grounded myself, but then again that always doesent assure everything will be okay.


I have no idea about the power supply but i have 256mb of ram inside, a 60gig hard drive, pentium 4 3.0, a geforce fx 5200 card, a d-link nic card, a sound blaster live card, and water cooling running through it. It comes in contact with the processor and goes into the radiator, then back into the pump, and back to the processor. the pump lies outside of the case. all pump cables connected still... so i have no idea.
