Post Kernel Boot - BIOS CHECK unsuccessful

I have Celeron system which I use for video processing, and it has about 8 hard harddrives on it. Since I don't process video much any more, I am not using it much. It has Slackware 12.1 installed.

Recently, after it was off for a while, I tried to boot it up, and after it ran LILO, and then loaded the kernel, I got a BIOS CHECK unsuccessful message, and the boot process stopped.

Later, I turned off the BIOS check feature of in the boot command prompt. It would boot further, but eventually failed, I believe at a portion where it was starting to configure drivers for the drives, but not sure.

A couple of days later, I went to boot it and it booted fine. After the kernel load, I got a message saying BIOS CHECK successful.

Any guidance? When I can, I will pull the case, and pop out the CMOS battery and check it's voltage. Other than that, I am at a bit of a loss.

Swap the cmos battery. They're cheap.

That probably fixes it. otherwise, you may need a bios upgrade, but I always regard that as kill or cure.
