Post Best Hardware for Linux Newbies.

I guess this post would be mainly for the seasoned user to post and the hard newbie to read. I think the info would have helped me out very much so.

I would like for you to please list what your machine is composed of and how, do you have windows, one hd or 2, which is master, which has linux-and does it matter.

what does the linux mounts look like on your HD. there are several ways to configure it. if you use the autoallocate feature of mandrake, it gives you something different than what the books are telling you. whats the advantage of journalisedfs 3 over ext2 or ext 3. since you can have linux installed on fat, why not?

most importantly; the hardware you have had the most success with cooperating with your linux distro. We wouldnt want a sad hardware problem stopping yet another person who wants to make the switch. i nearly failed, and im glad i didnt.
