Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Possible to make Western Digital Passport 800g bootable?

The subjest speaks for itself!

Am wondering whether anyone has figured out a method of making the silver 800 gig Passport bootable.

Would be nice to incorporate into my Knoppix system.

Thanks in advance.

Two things to check:

1) check the BIOS to make sure it's setup to allow booting from a USB drive.

2) with the drive plugged in, run lsmod to see if module usb-storage is loaded.
