Poser!HP DVD burner cdrw

Hi
An Hp 3100i recently came my way and I'm trying to use it under Mandrake 9.1.I don't know if anyone may be familiar with this drive as HP never sold it!Was supposed to be released back in late 99/early 2000 but never happened.Hp must have sold these off recently as there starting to surface NOS.Anyhow it's a 1.5xDVD-rw/11xCD-rw SCSI drive but it seen by Mandrake as a reader.I'm using it on a P4 with an Adaptec 2940uw Is there a way for it to be seen as writer?Any ideas would be vastly appreciated thanks!

right so you know what the scsi location is.... 0,4,0... so just use dvdrecord (or is cdrecord natively supporting now?) check the cdrecord manpages for syntax.
