Unhappy Poor Image Quality on KDE Desktop with IBM ThinkPad

I have recently installed redhat8.0 on my IBM ThinkPad R31 laptop. When using the default Bluecurve desktop everything works a treat. When I switch desktops to KDE (which I prefer) everythings looks slightly distorted and broken! Go back to Bluecurve and the image is crystal clear. Has anybody else experienced this? Thank you in advance
