Pocket Linux and the LAN

I am using Pocket Linux because my computer (i486) can't boot from the CD-ROM drive. I want to be able to connect to the LAN and do a NFS installation of a different version over the network. However, Pocket Linux doesn't recognize my network card (or so I've chosen to assume).

How can I get Pocket Linux to recognize the network card?
