Plugging devices on USB does not give any effect (kernel 2.6.6)

I have compiled a 2.6.6 kernel with all USB support in the kernel (not as modules).
When I plug in a flash card I get nothing in /var/log/messages and it is not listed by lsusb.

Here is some additional data:

=============================

# ls /proc/bus/usb/
001 devices

I have 4 USB sockets on my Epox motherboard.

==============================

# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

This does not change when I plug in the flash memory. The led on the flash stick turns on for a short time then shitches off.

==============================

# cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

I've solved that. I did not compile in OHCI driver. It seems that this one works.
