Please somone help me (Problems with my modem...)

Hi everyone!
I'm new to Linux, and just started with Fedora Core 1 (FC1).
well it automatically configured all my hardwares except for the modem.
I have an internal Genius Modem - the model : GM56PCI-L - (but Windows says it's Compaq!!! lol)
it just doesn't recognize it and I can't connect to the internet...
Can anyone help me out? BTW I'm not thinking about another modem or something like that! what about installing driver
Just can I do anything to get it run?

It would look like this is a software modem (one implemented partly in hardware and partly through a software driver).

It can be a real pain getting these to work under Linux; see http://linmodems.org for more information.

But I think you are in luck, as at least one site reports that this should work with the ltmodem driver. If you don't have that on the Fedora install disks, then take a look at http://www.rpmfind.net and try and find an RPM. If not, you can get it from http://www.physcip.uni-stuttgart.de/heby/ltmodem/
