please help with modem...please!! :p


I have downloaded the drivers for my 56k modem and when linux boots i see that it loads the 586ep driver, but i don't know how to selevt the modem to be able to use it. I got the driver from here - http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scr...mp;submit=Go%21

Please help, it's driving me mad :@

try using kppp and see if your modem comes up in the list. When installed, almost all do. If you know the name it installed under, you can try using that too "/dev/modem" or whatever it may be called.

Yep that worked great!!! thanks

The only problem.....it said about using the wizard and i clicked on yes and then by accident checked the box that said don't show this window again :/.....so now i can't enter the phone number, it can only use the ones that already entered in.....is there anyway of reseting kppp? I looked in /home and in /root but there was only one file was there to do with kppp that said something like '5263' within inside.

thankyou so much for anyhelp, it's so annoying cos i was so close too
