please help!! (nvidia and laptop)

hello!!

Maybe you know how to help me, please:

I have a new laptop AIRIS (www.ntairis.com) PRAGMA 565:

***************
TFT WXGA 15,2" panoramic screen (**RESOLUTION 1280x854**)
Geforce FX 5200 GO

using suse 8.2 with the nvidia driver 4363 (that's supposed to be supported for suse 8.2)
intel i845 motherboard

problem: when I use the SAX2 (suse tool) I always get a blur strange screen when I do a test with many configurations using nvidia driver
**************

so the problems arrive when I need to specify that the screen is 1280x854. I've taken a look at the README and it says that the Geforce FX 5200 chip is 0x322 but Geforce FX 5200 Go doesn't appear. Is that the problem? (it doesn't appear in the newest version neither)
So when I use SAX2 (configuration tool for SUSE) and I do a test it shows me a blur screen with that chip configuration. I can stablish a personal resolution (i tried it) but not configure the screen as a 1280x854. I mean, I have to configure 2 things: the screen and the video adapter. I can create personalized resolution just for the second one with this suse tool.

MAY I TRY WITH RED HAT OR MANDRAKE??

Is this the problem??

Also, when I try to configure everything as 1024x768 (it works in windows) it happens the same blur screen.

For now I have a framebuffer 1024x860 16 bits, but I really need the 3d accel for my opengl programs!!

THANKS VERY MUCH for your help

First of all, use driver 4496. As that's supported by suse as well.
Second, you should be able to run OnlineUpdate and get the driver if you want to do it the easy way.
If the latest driver wont compile for you, click on the link for suse 8.1 rpm's, and rpm -Uvh --force them to install

hi!

I couldn't compile the new driver. Do I download the rpm (I'm using Suse 8.2)?? No problem??

The other thing is how to configure the 1280x854 mode. It doesn't appear in the database...

and did I choose the right chip?? 0x322 ??

THANKS!!! VERY MUCH!!!

Have you seen these instructions from the SuSE website?
