Playstation controller linux compatibility

Hello. I'm thinking of buying one of these so I can use my PS2 pad with my PC, but I'm not sure how well it would work with linux. So what does everyone think, has anyone got one of these working?

I'm using Slackware 10 with kernel 2.4.26, of course if you need any more information just ask.

I have a different adapter (but same concept) the only thing that doesn't work with a PS2 Dual Shock pad is the vibration.
