Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe USB ... anybody got it working?
I own a Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe as TV-Card (external USB 2.0)...
The good thing about it is it's built in MPEG Encoder which delivers a quiet good quality (much better then the PCTV Pro... which uses SW Compression).
However I only got windows based drivers for it... unfortunatly.
Since a while now I'm looking for a solution which will allow me to use this TV-Adapter under Linux (which is based on a SuSE 9.0, with the latest stable kernel...)
EDIT: Forget it, that's for a regular PCTV usb... From what I gathered, the Deluxe one uses another tuner, so that driver won't work. But I seem to have found the solution here -> http://webboard.pinnaclesys.com/read...hread=50&lng=1
Sorry for digging out such an old thread but I found it while I was "google'ing" as I have the same problem :P Good luck
It doesnt work here. My system has USB funcionality (it loads it in boot time) i have /proc/bus/usb and i copied all files following the url Meqif sent. But my system hangs when i turn on the device!!! I even tried to use it w/ the device off and i got
[root@ademonozu prog]# dunerec -i 0 -S 1 -d 1
Cannot find dune!
DuneOpen failed
Meqif did you make it work follwing those instructions? Does your dist have /proc/usb? or is it like mine?
@leosgb: Try unplugging the power cable of your device for some seconds and "replug" it. Then, wait one minute or two, so the device can get the TV signal. When the 'on', 'ready' and 'tuner' lights are on, try again. I had that problem before I thought about that.
And nope, I don't have /proc/usb, only /proc/bus/usb, just like you.
It doesn't work here. As i said the system hangs. I just made the test again. I boot my system. Then i turn on the tuner as usual. The system hangs. I have the "on blink off off off off" configuration that means:
Power on
USB connected
drivers not initialized
How do i init the drivers? I've copied all of them to the folders as expected. Do i have to run anything prior to turning on the tuner?
Hmm... That's weird, I don't need to do anything to initialize the tuner...
Just checking: you've trying to get it to work as root, right? Sometimes when the tuner is on a bad mood, so to say, I switch to root and try again...
Try connecting it to another usb port. It may help.
I was worried that usb support wasnt configured on my system but it is since today (a few minutes ago) i finally got my pendrive working correctly... Meqif, regarding your last reply, when i tplug the tuner i am a regular used but i "su" so i can run the tuner's sw... maybe i should log in under root account huh? Is that what you meant?
I was saying that you don't need to log in to X as root, just login as usual and then fire up a term and run "su". But it seems like that's what you've been doing, I misread it up there ops:
Heck, I don't know... It can't load the firmware even if dunerec is run as root and it looks like the usb port is okay...
I am trying to get my pctv deluxe to work again. The system doesnt hang anymore because i have the drivers loaded by windows... i will try it again later to see if it will hang my system if i plug it w/o drivers previously loaded. I am trying to get dunerec to work but i am having problems here. What files do i have to download? And where should i copy them? I have this folders in dunetools:
duned
dunefilter
duneinit
dunerec
dunevtx
What are the commands you use and how do you use them? Is there any GUI for dunerec? is there any other sw that would work as dunerec and have us tune tv usingn the pctv deluxe?
Thanks for any help, (if u would rather you can email me ok? i tried to email you but i couldnt)
