Hi all,
I just popped a Pinnacle 40i tv card in my FC5 system. It was automatically recognized on boot (nice!). I then installed tvtime, zapping, and myth-tv and the image quality is fine.
But getting sound to work is a real challenge.
First time around, I didn't connect the tv card to the audio card with the cable supplied with the former. So I added it. Sound then worked, except that there was a lot of static when the tv programs weren't running.
After rebooting for other reasons, sound stopped working, even with the connector to the sound card. I then tried running this first:
Code:
sox -r 32000 -w -t ossdsp /dev/dsp1 -t ossdsp /dev/dsp
This worked with both zapping and tvtime until I rebooted again. Now I can't get sound again. At this point, I feel like I am going around in circles.
Can anyone give me some ideas on how to solve this once and for all?
I am running Fedora Core 5 with the 2.6.16-1.2133 kernel (also testing 2.6.17-1.2145). Sound (ie, amarok, etc) works fine otherwise.
TIA
NB: I forgot to add that I have checked all the sound channels in both gnome-volume-control and alsamixer and none is muted.
