Pine64 PineTab 2?
Is anyone (else) considering purchasing one of Pine64’s new tablets? I was always intrigued by the original but barely any ended up being made, because the pandemic hit right when that piece of hardware released. The value you’re getting for your money, spec wise seems almost unreal! I have purchased a Pine book pro and was very impressed with the quality particularly for the price, so I’m not worried about that aspect. The main thing holding me back right now is how rough the software situation is, basically they need developers to get their hands on it to really get a lot of the rough edges smoothed out (such as Wi-Fi driver issues causing them to recommend a Wi-Fi dongle to start out with). I’ll probably wait till they do the second batch of orders and purchase one then. The 8gb ram - 128Gb hard drive version.

I am currently unemployed and on a limited fixed income. (Like it or not, I may be retired!) IF/When I can I want to try a pinetab-2. I loved my Pinebook-Pro.

I have bought one recently and considering it as a big mistake, great idea with horribly poor performance. Not working wi-fi is not the only issue, it's an unfinished project, software which is not supporting it's hardware, pushed to mass production and being tested on customers. You pay money first, wait a months, then when you receive it, you will deal with one disappointment after another. I have started OS up, created login, wanted to do update, but no internet, your customer support is a forum, nothing else, you have to post question and wait. To connect wi-fi I was advised to use iPhone hard wired to the tablet, I followed instructions, got it connected, then a few second later, machine turned in t the stone cold brick, completely dead. Forum again, emails, got diagnose it is display only (weird as not even singled LED had flashed), sent instructions how to fix it myself, to open, remove screen, check connectors one after another, they offered to send extra screen and replace it, fixed nothing, another suggestion to do, after 2 months of trying to fix it on line with my hands I gave up and asked for replacement, then another surprise - you have to pay for shipping it back, from your packet. When replacement came, I have repeated the steps, login, basic settings, iPhone, updates, then for no reason AGAIN, it got bricked. Reporting, being blamed for myself doing something wrong, rude service and at the end had to pay for shipping it back to China. I asked for money back, got partial refund after another 3 months, bought another laptop locally by then, will never even think about buying somebody's unfinished and untested ideas again. For me, this product is a joke, 6 months since arrived and 10 months since I paid the money, couldn't even test it, just constant problems and stress, waste of time and money, no worth whatever it costs.
