Hello there all,
I have a Pine portable mp3 player, and I would love to be able to use it with Linux.
I did a search on the forum, and it seems most people were able to mount theirs as a usb storage device. They all went and did mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/wherever and it seemed to work for them. I tried that and the problem I ran into is that I don't have a /dev/sda1 or any other /dev/sda devices on my computer (or a /dev/dsp but that's another thread).
So I restarted my USB service, and I got the following
Code:
[root@blk2-193-162 tapout]# service usb restart
Initializing USB controller (usb-ohci): [ OK ]
I go back into the /dev directory and still nothing.
I go into the HardDrake and it sees the USB controller and assigned it the module usb-ohci, and in the Unknown/Others tab it does detect my Pine MP3 player, but obvously doesn't know what to do with it, but right below it, it also has my MP3 player listed as a Scanner (now that's weird).
So my question is sort of two-fold. Why can't I mount any usb devices because I don't have /dev/sda device, and how would I go about getting my MP3 player to work under LInux?
Thanks for reading.
