picture shifts on LCD monitor on KVM switch

I am using a new LCD monitor on a KVM switch so it is shared between systems running FC3 and W'XP. When I switch from Linux to XP, the picture is shifted left or right. Currently I readjust the monitor each time I switch. This should not be necessary. In the past, when sharing a monitor like this, I normally would adjust the monitor with its controls to suit Linux, and then in windows I could make compensating adjustments to suit that OS.

This time, W'XP and/or the monitor driver don't give me the necessary controls to adjust the picture under Windows. I feel certain there is a way to make adjustments with Linux instead, perhaps by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf? I have done that in the past for a CRT monitor by changing modelines, but for the LCD monitor the modelines don't exist in xorg.conf. How can I make the necessary video adjustments in Linux?

It seems that I need to make my questions more exciting in the future.

So far, my best idea on this problem is to mess with the viewport settings, which I really know nothing about. Google searches so far turn up bo-zillions of xorg.conf files people have posted but no examples of viewport adjustments that I have seen. When I get some free time, I guess I will experiment.

Can anybody suggst something? I admit that this is not a burning issue, but some day the AUTO adjustment button on my monitor may wear out.
