Philips webcam not working
I am driving everyone crazy with questions in this forum but I'm starting to get the hang of linux, even if a bit slowly. I have made progress getting myself to learn some stuff and resolving some problems.

After having configured my video card (GeForce 5200FX) there are only two pieces of hardware that just refuse to work. One is my tv tuner (which is a question in another thread) and the second one is my webcam, a Philips Toucam II Pro.

I'm using Fedora Core 3 and Camorama program.

Starting camorama I get the message "Could not connect to video device (/dev/video0)/ Please check connection".

This is the same error message I get when I try to use my tv tuner with tvtime.

I have no idea where should I start from, so general information:

In your system messages, there are no messages about any driver being loaded to set up /dev/video0. Do you know what pwc is? Google for "pwc linux phillips webcam". Insmod pwc.ko into your kernel (you will need v4l (video 4 linux) running in X - see /etc/X11/xorg.conf), and then you use your webcam. As for the tv tuner, that also needs v4l, and if both are not working, that might be your problem. If you have pwc already, try turning on v4l, if you don't have pwc, get that and then try v4l. Hope it works
