phantom printer with FC4 and Canon mp130

I'm using Fedora Core 4 (kernel 2.6.11) with Gnome 2.10.0 and a Canon mp130 printer. When I installed FC4, the printer was detected, but none of the available drivers worked. A bit of research showed that the driver for the Canon IP1500 works, and I installed it successfully--but now the system thinks I have two printers installed! They are listed as " mp130--1" and " PIXMAIP1500". I can use http colon //localhost dot localdomain dot 631/admin to delete the unwanted mp130--1, but it sometimes (not always!) reappears when I reboot. How can I get rid of it for good?

(I have to type the rather clumsy "http colon //localhost dot localdomain dot 631/admin" because otherwise I can't post (" The following errors occurred when this message was submitted: 1. You cannot post URLs to other sites until you have made at least 3 posts"). Sorry.)

canon, fc4, printing
