Petition for improved ATI Linux support

This may have already been posted, but there's a petition going around for improved ATI driver support for Linux. You know the drill. Sign, spread. :D

I don't understand the complaints of ATI drivers. I currently use the Radeon 9700 Pro (ATI drivers 3.11.1) and I have never had any trouble with ATI drivers or games in Linux. Granted, I only play a few games: Enemy Territory, Unreal Tournament 2004, Armagetron, Tux Racer, Far Cry, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2, and Frozen Bubble. None of these games I play have any issues, AND I'm using dual monitors. So what's all this fuss about?

hi,

well i have signed the petition, because i think the ati driver is c**p. i also use a machine with an old nVidia card - driver installation was comparatively easy, and the card works very well. by contrast, installation of ATI's latest driver was a nightmare, and the driver itself is very far from satisfactory. i'm not a gamer, but i do use other graphics functions - such as video overlay. here, the driver absolutely sucks - dga is broken. then there are numerous bugs - how about trying to run a second user session in kde? - impossible, due to a (documented) bug in the driver, the machine completely crashes..

would i ever buy an ATI card again? you must be joking!
