Pentium MMX and USB2 pcmcia

Hi

I've a Compaq Armada 1530 Pentium MMX laptop I'd like to use as "webcam server".
I have a Philips VestaPRO usb webcam, but the pc doesn't have any usb port. So I tried using a PCMCIA USB2.0 card from Hama (?), loading kernel modules OHCI and EHCI. Everything goes fine, the pwc webcam module loads correctly and create the video4linux device. But when I try to access the webcam with any program, the computer stalls. No Ctrl+c, no console switch, nothing. But if I remove the card the pc comes back to life (obviously with some nice error messages saying I removed the cam when it was being accessed)!

I've tried the same configuration, even with the same modules (using kernel 2.6.3), on a Compaq E500 laptop (which already has a usb port) and works fine, I can grab images.

Is it possible that the usb2 is not supported by the Pentium 1? The person who gave me the card used it on a Win98 system, and with its drivers works perfectly (maybe as usb1).

Anyone has an idea of what the problem can be?

Thanks
Maxxer

Re: Pentium MMX and USB2 pcmcia

I use a HAMA USB2.0 Card 49279 in an IBM Thinkpad to access an External HD
So the card is not the problem for Linux ....
May be an old Pentium MMX is to slow to Handle USB2.0 ....
