PCTV HD - tuner card; no sound

I have searched and searched and haven't found a clear cut solution.

I have tried tvtime and mythtv - perfect picture - no sound.

No clue, i have sound on everything else -

cat /proc/asound/cards

has a

entry 0 for my Soundblaster live card.

and another entry 1, that doesnt seem to be selectable MPU-401 UART?

Should i see my tuner card listed here?? I the card is PCI and the only thing connected to it is the tv cable from the wall - this is analog; using v4l sound?

I have since disabled the on-board sound.

Any thoughts?

TIA,

BOYD

Does your system output sound OK, except for the capture card?

Thanks for the response -

Yes, my system sound is good. (Note: I had to disable the onboard sound for the system sound to work well)

Does your manual indicate you need to hook up an audio cable from the capture card to the sound card? One of the PCTV cards I saw requires this.

Pretty hard to get a manual from web. Here is example that requires cable. Probably not the same as yours.

ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/Manual/Medi...TVCenter%20V.4

and then look at PCTV100i_EN.pdf, as an example.

If you don't need to do this or if you needed to and already did hook it up then did you try to see if any of the selection in alsamixer needed to be unmuted? I'm not sure if one of the mics or lines might work.

If you are running kde, run kmix and choose the input tab. Does playing with any of those settings help?
