PCTEL HSP56 MICROMODEM---not working on Gnu/Linux

hi
i am a newbie...

i tried a lot to configure the internal modem for fedora core 1 /Red Hat 9..
but i could..
all the things available on the net did not work..

all drivers available did not work..

but when i switched over to the new Xandros --internal modem got recognised automatically..
as its hardware detection facility is very good.

now i am on Xandros..

but i want Fedora core 1 as lot of bugs are there in Xandros...

so i want to switch over to either Fedora Core 1 or SUSE 9.0/9.1 or Mandrake 10...

so anybody can help me in configuring for either of these OS'...

thanks in advance...

waiting

thanks

Hello explosive,

Have you considered trying MEPIS its a live / installable CD based on Debain and has excellent hardware detection qualities.
its also very stable with great support,,,,, mepis.org

EDIT
I forgot say, I think that modem is the same as one my kids put in before we went ADSL and it was supported under MEPIS, but check the site /forum for confirmation and details.

http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pcte...x/welcome.html - everything I have seen on Google has pointed to this site. http://www.infologics.50megs.com/linux.htm may also be of help - the instructions could be a touch dated, but may give you pointers/hints/ideas.

Good Luck!
