PCMICA Devices...

ok so heres the deal...
when i go to set up linux mandrake (8.0) on my laptop, it goes to scan for PCMCIA devices, when it does, it finds my PCMCIA modem (3Com Megahertz 56k Model 3cxm756) and the install will just stop, at a blue screen... not like the BSOD though... just a blue screen. The modem worked 20 miniutes ago when running windows XP. I know the modem nor the PCMCIA slot is broken, because they were just in use. I rebooted into windows XP because i had not formatted it yet, and it worked yet again.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how i can get this to work? The modem that is built into the laptop doesnt have linux drivers... im on the go alot and i need a connection... so this is my only option. I chose linux mandrake becasue it is easiest for me to set up on a laptop although i would prefer Debian...

help.. please? i need to get this done soon... thanks!

My first approach would be to run
the install without the modem in the
PCMCIA slot, and worry about it later :)

Cheers,

I am also having similar problems. While installing Mandrake 9.1 on my Toshiba 1110-S153 laptop and the first boot up, the system would hang at the "Starting PCMCIA". So, I had to do the interactive startup and say NO to the start pcmcia. I have been looking on various forums, with no luck.

Could someone help?
