PCMCIA-PCI bridges
 

Are they transparent to Linux?
I mean, when troubleshooting why a PCMCIA device is not working, should it be assumed that the bridge is not working, preventing the actual card from working?
I had a lot of trouble with my bridge (with a Cirrus Logic chipset), but thenI heard that the ones with texas Instruments' chipset work like a dream. Well, bought one and I got a little further. The pcmcia-card beeps and then the machine freezes
