PCMCIA/"no sockets found"/WiFi Card
Ok I know this is in relation to something i had in another post, but its a new problem. I have been trying to install my Aironet 340 WiFi in Mandrake. After the install of Mandrake I plug the card in, and it detects it automatically, the lights on the card go on. I configure the card, save my settings and then restart. When i boot into Mandrake after the reboot, the card has no signs of life. Linux doesnt see the card and the card has no blinking lights. I did some reading on PCMCIA in my linux book and found two commands that have helped me come to this conclusion, cardctl and cardmgr. Cardctl doesnt let me do anything, it tells me that " open_sock(): No such device. " This was after typing
[root]# cardctl insert 1
1 is the correct socket, i used both of these commands before the restart while the card was active. Next I tried using cardmgr and it told me that
cardmgr[5732]: no sockets found!
Now, I am assuming that something is wrong with the PCMCIA sockets. For some reason they arent getting power or linux gave them the boot, but when i boot the system and watch the verbose boot, pcmcia successfully loads with a green ok. For being a noob at this linux thing I am completely lost on which direction to go. Can somebody help me?
