Red face PCM Sound Blaster 16 (Red Hat 9)

On My Red Hat Linux Box i have a (fosilised) sound blaster 16 card (that workes fine under wimblowz) but when trieng to be used on linux the MIDI and PCM parts dont function (mic and CD word fine )

Being a 16 bit sound card, it dosnt auto detect in the normal way (Red hat seeing it when installed and GUI running) insted it sees it when loading at console mode.

I tried ALSA a few times but that just made it stop working compleatly! (and making me reinstall linux and wimblows again )

Being only 14 years old i cant figure out whats wrong sound works fine on my other computers

Thanks in advance.
