Hey was thinking of creating a NAS in my old computer that just has IDE so was going to buy this and install two 500gb hard disks in my computer, my question is does anyone know if this will work with a standard Debian install?

I do not know for sure if it will work but it should. However there is something else to consider. There are multiple versions of the PCI bus. The older the motherboard the slower this bus is. The older PCI buses were only able to handle 133MB/s TOTAL. Which includes going to the video card, transferring through memory, etc. So check which version of PCI you are running.
