I am having a problem with getting a pcmcia wireless card (a truemobile 1150 silver ) that "plugs into" a pci interface ( texas instuments pci1410 ) to be recognized in my desktop pc. This same card works perfectly in my Dell Inspiron 4000 notebook running Ubuntu Linux so I know it works.
I believe my problem lies with the pci interface. I don't need to know how to get the wireless card configured ( plenty of advice here about that ), only to be seen and/or recognized by the operating system. I've tried the wireless forum with no luck so I figured it might be more of a hardware issue because of the pci adaptor card. I presently have Ubuntu "the hoary edition" and Xandros 3.0 up and running except for the wireless card. I have also have tried Fedora Core 1-2-3, and Mandrake with no success.
I don't know if it matters but I have an Asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard and the card works in winxp. The card doesn't show up with the ifconfig or iwconfig commands but the texas instuments pci card show up in lspci. If I had to take a guess ( and that is all it is ) I'd say it is some sort of irq problem. Dmesg says something about "no high memory" and "cs: unable to map card memory!
I would like to get off windows but this is a barrier for me.
