PC refuses to boot from USB drive when a particular monitor is attached
Using the same PC with a Gigabyte motherboard (boot menu key: F12 and Linux Mint 21.2, I tried to boot from a USB drive.
Firstly:
1. Using a Samsung SyncMaster 932MW computer monitor (LS19PMASF), I repeatedly tapped F12 and the PC continued to boot up with LM.

Secondly:
2. I tried the same thing using a Samsung F24T450FQR - T45F Series (see link below) and after a single press of F12, the Boot Menu was shown and I selected USB.
The PC booted from the USB drive without any hesitation.

Has anybody had a similar experience?
I have never failed to boot a computer from a USB drive previously and I cannot understand what effect the Samsung SyncMaster 932MW can be having to cause this problem.
Any suggestions?

Is there a BIOS upgrade available for the Gigabyte?
Some displays just don't react well with some UEFI BIOS. Your's may be reacting poorly to the native 1440x900, which is a 16:10 mode. You may simply need to hit F12 much sooner than you expect.

mrmazda,
Thanks for your reply.
I think you are correct with your suggestion that the monitor is reacting poorly to the native 1440x900.
When I start tapping F12 immediately, I get the Gigabyte screen and no further.
If I start tapping once I see this screen, then LM boots.
The existing BIOS is F14 and F15 is available.
This link shows how to use FreeDOS to update a BIOS in Linux for a non-Q-Flash board:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/9502...os-with-ubuntu
However, I really don't want to take the risk of bricking the PC.
I will mark this as SOLVED.
