Hi folks,
my question is how to use PATA hard drives with SATA connectors of my
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe because their price is about 10 to 15% cheaper than
their equivalent SATA drives.
It is possible using a SATA-to-PATA converter that you clip on to the disk but I really don't see the point. Most motherboards come with ATA IDE controllers onboard so connect them directly to those instead. You will see no performance advantage using the SATA controller for regular ATA disks unless you have a bigass cache memory on the controller.
Yes indeed, I heard that the Abit motherboard came with a cable called "serillel" wich
enables you to connect IDE HDD to SATA controlers. But since I do not have an Abit motherboard (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe with SATA) I wonder if these cables are compatible and if yes are they sold seperatly and where.
Many thanks guys
