Partition table appears to be corrupted
 

Hello every1, i am having trouble with my modded Xbox for Gentoox Linux, I have a 1.4 hardware version unit with the TSOP Flashed with Shallax´s BIOS and a 200G Seagate Hard Drive. I Have a default Xbox Parition Table and the Gentoox Kernel is launched from the E Partition, however the system is unable to find F:

I booted Resctoox and i get the following message when attempting to run cfdisk /dev/hda to check the partition table:

FATAL ERROR: Bad primary partition 1: Partition ends after end-of-disk

I am uncertain if this was caused by trying to write beyond the disks capacity It did happen, but after i reached the limit i aborted and erased enough to get things back to an acceptable remaining free space.

Now, how do i fix this?? It is very important to me bacause my entire mp3 collection, scanned comics and personal files for the last 10 or more years are in that partition and i HAVE to get them back.

Running fdisk on my /dev/hda i get this info:

Now if only i could change hda to match my hard drives capacity everything would get fixed, am i right? Please send me your comments....

Hey dude,

Before you do anything have a look at this post about DD. I know it doesn't exactly answer your question but you could get a replacement drive and copy the partition to another drive missing the MBR part (there's lots of examples here on how to do this).

Just take your time to read everything through and do your homework. Your data are recoverable so don't panic and take it easy.

There are ways to repair the MBR etc. but I'm not entirely up to speed with them.

Again not exactly what your looking for but some very nice options for recovering/copying your partition.

Thanks for your reply, actually a friend of mine also suggested dd to make a bit by bit copy and so restore my files; now i am trying to procure hardware to actually run the restore... I will get back to you on this when i am able to try it.
