Hello. I've been trying to install my printer off my Toshiba laptop running Red Hat 8.0 I have had no sucess using every type of printing setup. I am wondering now if this is a hardware issue. I have gone to my hardware browser and I can't seem to find anything referring to the parallel port. I also checked the Peripherals through the Control Center and there is no record of a parallel port there either. As I understand it, the parallel port should be /dev/lp0.

Is there a way to check and make sure that Red Hat recognizes the parallel port?

Well I figured out the problem. Had to go into the BIOS and define the parallel port. Apparently RedHat does not recognize the parallel port. Thanks for all your help everybody. I couldn't have figured it out without you.
