Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8

Hi,

I have bought the camera "Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8", but when I connect it with my PC (Kubuntu 7.10), it sees it as a "USB Mass Storage Interface", with the image of a camera. Though the contents stays empty as when I click it it keeps a while on "initializing camera" and then returns with the error "unknown error code 50"...

lsusb recognizes it as "Bus 002 Device 004: ID 04da:2372 Panasonic (Matsushita) Lumix DMC-FZ10 Camera".

How could I look at the pictures I have taken with my camera?

Thanks!

First consider buying a card reader. I have a little thumb sized usb reader that cost $12 that I carry with my camera. The reason is that a lot of guys wound up with burnt out usb on their cameras when the usb on the computer spiked.

Make sure the the camera (it is in the FZ's menu) is set to PC(or similar). If it is not set that way, the computer will still know that it is there but the camera does not know how to talk to the computer.

Good Luck

Exactly that is what I had to do with my FZ7 then when connecting it through Digikam or similar programs you need to use the PTP protocol with a USB mass storage device to get the pictures off it.

Also what is described.

Will most likely mean you will never be able to access the camera through the icon that pops up on the Desktop or at least I never could get it to work so you need to use the already mentioned Digikam or gtkam for access.
