p4pe sound problem continuation
Well I'm sure this is old by now, but the P4PE sound compatibility with linux (Redhat in my case) is not too great. Everyone has tried connecting to different sound ports (the mic is mono, so it is worthless unless you like losing half of the sound) ALSA seems to be iffy at best, so I bring it up again. Has ANYONE had ANY luck getting a P4PE mobo with a Soundmax chipset (not sure of exacts on that) to work with ANY luck using ANYTHING, minus the shoddy mic port fix? I have tried alsa, but I can't get the snd-intel8x0 to work correctly with modprobe. It keeps getting a "No Such Device" error for one.... I have plenty of scrap sound cards, but the rest of the mobo works so well without slapping on extras, i'd like to try and get this sorted out, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Thanks for your help.
