P 501 Total ram and physical ram
 

our company bought a new ibm entry level server p501 and redhat enterprise 5 linux, having 2GB of RAM,
when i installed it, and check RAM it only disply


Total used free
Mem: 1060 1000 60

I want to know why it is not displaying 2GB, where as IBM Support checked it using HMC it displys 2 GB.

Are you sure that high memory (over 1 GB) is enabled in kernel? Although 1060 is very strange for that case..

Solved:

This was my mistake, i have assigned 840MB memeory to Kernel dump. and now i disabled that feature.
