over riding udma -not a specific linux question


can anyone tell me how to solve this problem

have added a new hard drive to a friends computer
it has set itself to udma66
this is causing serious overheating issues
as well as causing the cd to not run above mode 4

the hard drive is a maxtor 15gig s/n 31536H2

the correct setting for this system is udma33

ok

this problem is a windows problem

i know this is a linux forum (i am a member)

but "you guys" just cant be beaten when it comes to knowledge
so
this is my first port of call when enlisting the help of others

wish I could help, I onl use windows at work, and do not do technical there, at home all 4 of my comps are linux only, have been for 5 years or so, sorry
