out of bounds error w/ princeton 20" monitor

I was using Fedora 4 with not much problems at all. I bought a Princeton 20" Monitor and when I install it It gave me out of bound error try using 1600x1200 (default) and then screen goes blank. So I searched and looked and really found nothing to help me out. So then I thought i would try a different distro-this is as good as a chance as any. So I installed Mandrake-same error can't seem to get a screen up so then i tried Ubuntu (works good on my laptop) exact same problem, Redhat white box 4? same problem, Debian 3.0r2 or something. same thing as all of them out of bounds error, then i tried Fedora 3 Shazam this on works, after rebooting there is a set up screen that you can configure mouse, keyboard, monitor and such. works like a charm.. So I thought I would do Fedora 4 another chance and the same error, except and the very end of install post install i think it is
there is a message that says error sending states request operation not permitted. it loads up however that part that you configure is missing?. So then I re-download the Fedora 4 disk
's again and tried it again, with the same error out of bounds error use 1600x1200.

It would sure be swell to go back to 4 again it works a lot better on my system than 3 do.

sorry for the long post i don't now how else to tell it. One Confussed Puppy. Thanks for any imformation that will help me out.

Have u tried booting using only 'Text Mode' not to ofamiliar with Fedora but most install splash screens have a list of options, some accessed by pressing F2 or F3. This should then bring up some alternative screen resolutions, try Text Mode.

Another alternative, assuming you have a copy of Windows, is to boot into that OS, and download acopy of FreshDiagnose. There's a Wizard that allows you to save text files reporting all your hardware, BIOS, Partition info. I t can display every single parameter of your Screen, from min to max refresh rates (in Hz) to supported resolutions. If you find one that Fedora also uses, then go with that

The first option, however, is the best.

good luck, don;t foget to let us know how you get on!!!
